Court Correspondent : All trial proceedings of lower courts of Dhaka were kept suspended till midday yesterday (Thursday) for showing respect to Dhaka District and Sessions Judge's Court Public Prosecutor Khandaker Abdul Mannan, who died on Wednesday. "The lower courts in Dhaka did not hold the trial proceedings for showing the respect to Public Prosecutor Khandaker Abdul Mannan," Hossain Ali Khan Hassan, General Secretary of Dhaka Bar Association (DBA) told the media people. He said Advocate Mannan was infected with Covid-19 a few days ago. He recovered but fell ill again and was admitted to Square Hospital in the capital for better treatment. Abdul Mannan died around 7:00pm on Wednesday, while undergoing treatment there, the general secretary added. His namaz-e-janaza was held on the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court premises in Dhaka at 11:00am on Thursday. After attending the funeral, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said "We are deeply saddened by his death. Mannan had all the qualities a lawyer needs. He was respected by all. Advocate Khandaker Abdul Mannan was the former President and General Secretary of Dhaka Bar Association. The learned lawyer was 70.
