Sports Reporter :
Head Coach of West Indies Cricket team Phil Simmons said the young cricketers of his squad have chance to shine against Bangladesh in the upcoming three-match ODI series and two-match Test series.
He said, " My massage to all the cricketers of my team that you are not here to fill in.
You are here to prove yourself hear. You get a chance now to confirm your place in the squad. If you perform well here, it will be a good chance for you to move forward. You arrived here and if you show well in the three ODIs and two Tests, you will seal your chance in the team and nobody can move you. Only you get the opportunity.''
West Indies Cricket team reached Dhaka without their star players Jason Holder, Kieron Pollard and Darren Bravo. They did not arrive here due to personal reasons.
Besides, Sheldon Cottrell, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran also refused to come Bangladesh. Thus Cricket West Indies sent an inexperienced squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.
The Caribbean Head Coach said, " Everybody has their options and rights to decide what he will do."
West Indies will face Bangladesh in the first ODI on January 20, meet the hosts in the second ODI on January 22 and play against Bangladesh in the third ODI on January 25.
The first Test between Bangladesh and West Indies will take place from February 3 to February 7, while the second Test between the hosts and the visitors will be held on February 11 to February 15. All the matches will be held at the close door stadiums.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh has recorded 5,00,000 Covid-19 cases but its fatality rate has been rate has been one of the lowest of the world.
