Sports Reporter :
West Indies Cricket team arrived in the city on Sunday to play three One Day International (ODI) cricket matches and two Test matches against the hosts.
A contingent, which consists of 38 members from West Indies arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport  in the morning and then went to the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on the first day of their three-day isolation.
The Caribbean team came in Dhaka without their top cricketers such kind as Kieron Pollard, Jason Holder and Darren Bravo due to personal reasons.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nizamuddin Chowdhury said, " The West Indies team reached Dhaka and they are now at the Pan Pacific Soanargaon Hotel. The saliva samples of the team members will be taken today for Covid-19 test and another one within 72 hours. If both results come negative, they will be allowed to train at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city's Mirpur subject to approval from the government authorities."
He said they are still sticking to the earlier decision of not allowing spectators into the ground for the matches due to coronavirus-situation.
Meanwhile, Players of Bangladesh began their practice at the SBNCS and BCB-NCA Ground on Sunday after getting into the bio-secure bubble environment.
Bangladesh will take on West Indies in the first ODI at the SBNCS on January 20, face the Caribbean team in the second ODI at the same venue on January 22, meet West Indies in the third ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chattogram, the port city of the country on January 25.
The first Test between Bangladesh and West Indies will take place at the ZACS from February 3 to February 7. The second Test between the hosts and the visitors will be held at the SBNCS from February 11 to February 15.
