The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has launched an awareness campaign in the capital city with a view to intensilying the use of the mask to threat the second blow of the corona pandemic situation.
A joint mobile court with the Dhaka district administration fined Tk 100 to 300 several persons for not using the mask.
The city dwellers however, have welcomed such a campaign. But those who did not have masks.
On Thursday, a drive led by RAB Executive Magistrate Palash Kumar Basu in the city's Shahbagh area around 11.15am created awareness.
According to RAB sources, during the campaign about the reason of not wearing a mask, some people said that they opened the mask to take oxygen, some people said, that they feel short of breath. 'I have left it at home by mistake Many people are giving such trifling excuses.
Though the poor people were given free masks, the rest did not get relief. The amount of fine was taka one hundred to three hundred.
Many people said that the amount of fine is a little excess as taka 300 may not always be available with everyone.
However, even if there were allegations, but it is clear to all that such campaign will be very helpful to make the city dwellers conscious.
If you are not afraid of Corona, but you at least have to wear a mask fearing RAB, people said.
The RAB has said that such operations will be continued to deal with this step. Such an operation is now urgent to deal with the second wave. Moreover, the mask will serve as an alternative to the vaccine until the vaccine arrives, said RAB officials. RAB further said that besides this, awareness activities will also be going on.
