DU teacher Zia sued under DSA

Professor Md Ziaur Rahman, of Dhaka University was sued under the Digital Security Act on charges of "making derogatory comments on Islam" during a live talk-show on the private television channel, DBC News yesterday.  
Muhammad Mahbub Alam, editor of the monthly Al Bayyinat and the Daily Al-Ihsan and Md Imrul Hasan, a lawyer, yesterday filed two cases with the
Cyber Tribunal of Dhaka respectively. After separate hearings for each case, Judge Mohammad Ash Sams Joglul Hossain took the cases into cognisance and recorded the statements of the two complainants.
The court instructed the Cyber Crime Investigation Division of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of police to investigate the matter and submit separate reports by November 1.
According to the case documents, Professor Ziaur Rahman of DU's Criminology Department made anti-Islamic remarks during a talk-show on the private television channel recently which went viral on Facebook and Youtube "hurting the people's religious sentiments".
