Our Correspondent :
A forty-year-old woman was raped multiple times by her neighbour who threatened to kill her only son if she did not comply.
The incident happened in Kaliganj of Gazipur district.
The woman filed a case with Kaliganj Police Station in this regard on Friday.
On September 24, the man forced his way into her
house during maghrib prayers and raped her again, according to the case statement.
The accused, forty-five-year old Faruk, is the woman's neighbour and had been given Tk 7 lakh by the woman to buy some land as the woman's husband lives abroad.
"We are investigating the matter, but the lone accused is yet to be arrested," said AKM Mizanul Haque, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station.
Yesterday too, the man, allegedly physically assaulted the woman after failing to rape her, the case statement added. Faruk threatened to kill her son when he saved her from Faruk's clutches at that time, the victim added.
The man raped the woman first in 2007 and filmed the incident back then, the victim's son told media.
"From then on, Faruk often blackmailed my mother with the video and raped her," he said.
"On Thursday evening, the man threatened to kill me within four days when I went to save my mother from him," the boy added.
