Staff Reporter :
Dilshad Nahar Achol, 18, committed suicide during a video call with her boyfriend in Dhaka's Khilkhet area.
She was found hanging from the ceiling. Her family brought the dead body to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctor declared her dead around 5am on Friday
DMCH police outpost In-Charge Inspector Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter to The New Nation.
Dilshad studied fashion design at a private university in Savar and lived with her family in Khilkhet's West Kawla area.
Her uncle Kawser said, "Dilshad had a relationship with a boy named Safqat since her school life. They were on a video call early Friday, and at one point Dilshad committed suicide by hanging herself."
"Safqat took a few screenshots and sent them to Dilshad's sister Shamsunnahar Priti. By that time, Shamsunnahar had gone to sleep. When she finally saw the screenshots, she rushed to Dilshad's room, unlocked, and found her hanging from the ceiling," he stated.
"Dilshad was rushed to the hospital where the doctor declared her dead," said Kawser.
Shamsunnahar said, "I saw my sister having a heated argument over the phone, but had no clue that she might commit suicide."
Kawser said Safqat knows the reason behind Dilshad's suicide, or maybe he is the reason. He demanded that police investigate the matter and take proper action.
