Sports Reporter :
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Thursday the 28-member Under-19 preliminary squad.  The squad will take part at a four-week skill camp at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) in Savar from October 1.
With this skill camp, Bangladesh will officially kick-off the practice to defend the title of Under-19 World Cup.  The next World Cup will be held in West Indies in 2022.
Before starting the camp, they have to report at the Krira Palli, Mirpur on September 29 and will undergo Covid-19 tests on September 30. During the camp, where emphasis will be on skills and fitness, the members of preliminary squad are also scheduled to play five 50-over matches on October 17, 18, 22, 24 and 26, said in a BCB press release.
Bangladesh, which is the defending champions of Under-19 World Cup, initially formed the team with 47 members who participated in a four-week residential camp at the BKSP. The camp began on August 23 and came to an end on September 18. In these four weeks, the players had played seven warm-up matches in one-day format. However, four matches have been reduced to 30 overs due to the inclement weather.
According to the performances of the players, the BCB basically reduced the squad to 28 members.
Meanwhile, head coach Naveed Nawaz and trainer Richard Stonier have already returned to Dhaka to join the practice of the newly formed team.
The players, who have been chosen for the preliminary squad, are: Mofijul Islam, Emon Ali, Iftakhar Hossain Ifti, Habibur Shaikh Munna, Prantik Nowrose Nabil, Shakib Shahriyer, Sohag Ali, Meherob Hasan, Abdullah Al Mamun, Khalid Hasan, Aich Mollah, Ashraful Hasan Rihad Khan, Musfik Hasan, Arif Ahmed Anik, Bayzid Miya Roman, Ashiqur Zaman, Mohiuddin Tareq, Ripon Mondol, Mustakim Mia, Ahosun Habib Leon, Naimur Rohman Noyon, Ashraful Islam Siam, Misbah Ahmed Sana, Maksudur Rahman, Golam Kibria, Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby, Jillur Rahman, Zakaria Islam Shanto.
