13 killed in Chuadanga, Mymensingh road accidents

Locals gather at the accident spot after six people were killed and 10 others injured when a night coach rammed a number of vehicles and ran over pedestrians at Sarojganj Bazar in Chuadanga on Saturday.

Thirteen killed in road accidents in Chuadanga and  Mymensingh districts on Saturday.
In Chuadanga, six people were killed and 10 others injured as a speedy bus hit two human haulers and a motorcycle on Chuadanga-Jhenidah road in Sorojganj bazar area in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Soshthi, 40, son of Nitai Hawlader of Badu Bhandardoh village, Molin Ali, 40, son of Mahatab Uddin of Kharaghoda village, Raju, 38, son of Niyat Ali of Tatidah village, Sharif Hossain, 45, son of Rahim Mallick, Sohag, 25, son of Nuta Mandal and Kalu, son of Haidar Ali of Sadar upazila.
Abu Zahid Fakhrul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that the accident took place around 6am as Meherpur-bound 'Royal Paribahan' bus from Chattagram crashed into the stationary the vehicles, leaving the six people dead on the spot and 10 people injured. Police arrested the bus driver and seized the bus.
Among the victims, five were day-labourers.
Abdus Salam, deputy director of Chuadanga fire service and civil defense, said that primarily it is suspected that reckless bus driving was behind the accident.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Nazrul Islam Sarker provided Tk 20,000 to the families of each victim.
The injured were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, said Doctor Shamim Kabir, residential medical officer of Sadar Hospital.
In Mymensingh, seven persons including three of a same family were killed in a road accident at Roychora area on Muktagachha- Jamalpur road in the district on Saturday afternoon.Officer- in -Charge (OC) of Muktagachha thana Biplop Kumar said the accident took place when a Jamalpur-bound bus from Dhaka rammed into a three wheeler CNG run auto rickshaw, instantly killing four passengers at around 4:15 pm.
Three passengers who were critically injured in the accident died on their way to hospital, police and eyewitnesses said.
OC said the accident happened when Jamalpur bound bus collided head on with a CNG coming from opposite direction at 3.45 pm killing four Persons on the spot including CNG driver .
On hearing the news police rushed to spot and recover the bodies.
Six persons were identified as Nur Islam 35, his wife Taslima 26, and her daughter Liza Akhter 12 , Nuzrul islam 30, Saidul Islam 45, Nazal Islam 50 and CNG driver Aladul 38
Shortly after the incident police in collaboration with the locals arrested the driver Kamal Hossain of the bus.
A case was filed with Muktagachha police station in this connection.
