Business Desk : The fifth death anniversary of Major General (retd) Amjad Khan Chowdhury, pioneer of agro-processing industry of Bangladesh and founder of PRAN-RFL Group, has observed on Wednesday. On the occasion, milad and doa mahfil was hold at PRAN-RFL Group head office in Dhaka and factories across the country, said a press release. Visionary entrepreneur and industrialist Chowdhury passed away at the age of 75 on July 8 in 2015. He was born in Natore on November 10 in 1939. He retired from Bangladesh Army in 1981 and and set up a small company, Rangpur Foundry Ltd (RFL), to make irrigation pumps. Than In 1991, he started the journey of PRAN-RFL Group in 1981 through founding Rangpur Foundry Limited. He began with sliced pineapples in cans, moving on to mango drinks, jams and jellies, with plans to cater to both local and foreign consumers. Now the company has a variety of products such as pumps, tube-wells and gas stoves, winning prestige as the largest cast iron foundry and light-engineering workshop in Bangladesh.
