Minister for Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Md Tajul Islam yesterday called upon the countrymen to continue the development works following the health guidelines set by the government including maintaining social distancing.
The minister said this while participating in a tree plantation programme at WASA's Saidabad water treatment plant phase-3 area in the capital marking Mujib Year.
He also said, "The country is moving forward on the path of development under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Due to the spread of Coronavirus all over the world, development activities in Bangladesh are being hampered like other countries. But, we should not stop, we must move forward overcoming all the obstacles."
There are millions of working people across the country, he said, adding economic activities must go on maintaining hygiene to maintain their livelihood as well as progress of the country.
Mentioning that WASA is committed to deliver pure water to city dwellers, the minister said, "Despite the announcement of lockdown and general holidays in the country, the employees of Dhaka WASA were working amid risk as we have to move forward taking all the risks."
Tajul thanked the city dwellers for paying their water bills regularly even in this adverse situation.
Marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, WASA will plant 500 saplings in its project area.
