Over 6 cr people get govt's relief assistance

As part of the government's continuous effort to minimize people's hardship amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, over 6 crore people have already received the government's relief assistance.
"The government has so far provided relief assistance to more than 6 crore people of over 1.25 crore families across the country," said an official press release here on Saturday.
According to the information received from the district administrations of 64 districts as of May 29, a total of 1,62,193 tonnes of rice out of allocated 1,91,817 tonnes, has been distributed among 6,11,48,771 beneficiaries of 1,36,87,244 families.
The government has so far allocated cash Taka 110 crore. Of those, Taka 86.4372264 crore was allocated for providing cash assistance while Taka 72.5598996 crore has already been distributed to 3,75,10,858 people of 81,10,303 families.
Besides, Taka 23.94 crore was allocated for purchasing baby food while Taka 18.4935054 crore has been distributed among around 12,49,450 people of 5,84,640 families across the country.
