Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) in support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been working to keep the countrywide jails free from the clutch of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The wing on family communication of the society has been conducting special operations at 59 jails out of the 64 districts in the country to keep the prisoners free from the infection of COVID-19 side by side ensuring that none could enter the jails being infected with the virus. The restoration of family communication department of the society has been conducting such operations in Dhaka since April 5 while operations at other jails across the country started on April 9. The BDRCS said they have already provided disinfectant spray equipment, hand sanitizers, footbaths, daily essentials and awareness leaflets to the authorities of the jails. The volunteers of the society have been assisting the jail authorities to successfully run these disinfectant operations at the jails.
