57 held with huge drugs in city

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Detective Branch (DB) arrested at least 57 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the capital in last 24 hours from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning.
Detective Branch of the DMP in association with the members of local police stations of the city carried out the drives separately starting from 6:00 am on Wednesday.
During the drives, the law enforcers recovered 20,793 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, 265.75 grams of heroin, 2.5 kg of hemp, five bottles of phensidyl, five bottles of local wine and 29 cans of beer from their possessions, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
A total of 45 cases were filed with different police stations under Narcotics Control Act, DC added.
