Bangladesh Navy emerged as the champions in the Bangabandhu Shaheed Smrity Hockey Tournament defeating Bangladesh Army by 6-3 goals in the final at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.
Ashraful Islam of Bangladesh Navy put his team ahead using a penalty corner in the seventh minute of the play.
Mahbub Hossain of Bangladesh Navy doubled the margin by a field goal in the 12th minute of the clash.
Monoj Babu of Bangladesh Army reduced the margin by a field goal in the 19th minute of the encounter.
Russell Mahmud of Bangladesh Navy made it 3-1 by a field goal in the 33rd minute of the game.
After the lemon-break, Mainul Islam of Bangladesh Navy increased the tally into 4-1 by a field goal in the 36th minute of the play.
Abed Uddin of Bangladesh Navy made it 5-1 capitalizing a penalty corner in the 44th minute of the match.
After four minutes, Milon Hossain of Bangladesh Army decreased the margin by a field goal.
Ashraful Islam of Bangladesh Navy made it 6-2 utilizing a penalty corner in the 54th minute of the game.
After five minutes, Main Uddin of Bangladesh Army reduced the margin (6-3) by a field goal.
After the final match, Executive Director of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) and Chairman of the Tournament Committee Zaki Ahmed Ripon, Acting General Secretary of BHF Mohammad Yousuf, Jonit-Secretary of BHF Kamrul Islam Kismat, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Badrul Islam Dipu were present at the time, among others.
It may be mentioned that Walton Group sponsored the hockey meet.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation organized the hockey competition. A total of four teams took part in the hockey tournament.
