A housewife died after her arrest by the Detective Branch of police in Bhawal Gazipur area of Gazipur City Corporation.
The deceased was identified as Yasmin Begum, 40, wife of one Abdul Hye, an inhabitant of Bhawal Gazipur village.
Both husband and wife were reportedly involved with local drug trading and they were also accused in several drug cases, claimed police officials. Accusing police, victim's family members said that she was beaten dead after arrest.
Contrarily, Police claimed that she died due to illness after arrest.
Arafat Rahman Jisan, son of the deceased, said that a team of Detective Police came to their house to arrest his father Abdul Hye in a drug case on Tuesday evening. During the drive, his father was not present at home.  They, later, walloped his mother and took her with them, said Jisan.
Later, he went to DB office where he was told that her mother had been rushed to hospital for treatment. Finally arriving there, he heard her mother died of cardiac arrest, Jisan added.
