40 arrested in anti-drug drive in city

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Detective Branch (DB) arrested at least 40 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the ongoing anti-narcotics drives in the capital between Monday morning and Tuesday 6 am.
Detective Branch of the DMP in association of the members of local police stations of the city carried out the drives separately starting from 6:00 am on Monday.
During the drives, the law enforcers recovered 1,216 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 307 grams of heroin, two kg of hemp,five bottles of wine, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
A total of 28 cases were filed with different police stations under Narcotics Control Act, DC added.
