One of the senior most lawyers of Bangladesh, Barrister Mainul Hosein has reputation nationally and internationally. He was Law Advisor to the Caretaker government.  He was President of the Supreme Court Bar Association from 2000  to 2001. He has the legacy of being the eldest son of Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia, the founder Editor of The Daily Ittefaq, a Pioneer Legend in journalism.
Barrister Mainul Hosein champions the cause of rule of law, justice and human rights and upholds Democracy to materialise the dream of the people-the spirit of the Great Liberation War. He is above politics of conflict and confrontation and is of the opinion that our country could not achieve its goal of Freedom and democratic stability as the nation could not continue its struggle unitedly, because of power politics.
Mainul Hosein’s journalistic and literary contribution through publication of books include 'বাংলাদেশের বাস্তবতা ও প্রত্যাশা’, ’ব্যক্তি স্বাধীনতা ও জাতীয় মর্যাদা’, ’গণতন্ত্রের সাফল্য চাহিয়াছি’, ‘ঝঁনংবৎারবহপব রং হড়ঃ ভৎববফড়স,’ 'গণতন্ত্রের সংগ্রামে বাংলাদেশ‘, ‘নতজানু থাকা স্বাধীনতা নয়’, ’ঘুরে দাঁড়াতে হবে’, ’আমার জীবন আমাদের স্বাধীনতা’ and the last one published is ‘HUMANITY OF JUSTICE.’
In the ‘Preface,’ the writer said, “I had to go on highlighting repeatedly and most anxiously the faults and weaknesses of the system of justice, as I perceived, because the expected changes are not forthcoming. On the other hand, the efforts from the successive governments for subduing the judiciary have grown in intensity. In free Bangladesh, I found it distressing and saw it as a betrayal of the virtue of freedom. To me justice is the virtue of freedom”... “Through various articles I insisted that we have to ensure for ourselves a government of checks and balances as mandated by the Constitution. Otherwise, we shall have no rights guaranteed including the right to get justice”... ”But I could not help expressing my deepest concern for the need of building a good justice system with a fair touch of humanity. Freedom is illusory in the void of a justice system, strong and impartial.”
The writer owes an explanation why he ‘chose the title Humanity of Justice and not Justice under Law.’
He said, “This is because to me justice requires mental makeup and judicial temperament for the judges to do justice. But such mind-set and temperament cannot grow in a vacuum. The entire sociopolitical gamut has to be prepared for the judges to deliver justice.  My articles in this book are directed towards the kind of atmosphere in which our cry for justice is to be answered.”
Thus the name of the book is very significant, which speaks of the writer’s emphasis on ‘humanity,’ the source of the fountain, from which justice is to be ensured.
Three quotations have been placed at the beginning of the book. These are : “At his best,  man is the noblest of all animals; separated from law and justice he is the worst.” Aristotle… “It is true that we are in great danger. The greater therefore should our courage be.”…William Shakespeare “……knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful.” …Samuel Johnson
The book has 248 pages and 55 chapters. The articles in the chapters were published in The New Nation.
The compilation has a literary flavour and flow, for which, it is supposed; the readers will feel eagerful to study this book of national importance.
The articles with elaborate discussion centering on the subject ‘humanity of justice’ reflect the ‘Preface’ of the book.
Standard paper, attractive cover and good printing has ensured the quality of the publication.
The book has been dedicated to ‘the anxious fighters for the victims of injustice.’
We expect wide circulation of the book.
