Satkania Upazila Parishad polls today

Satkania Upazila Parishad Election will be held  today (  Monday) . The official campaign has  ended from  Saturday night .
According to sources in the Upazila Election Commission office, four candidates are contesting for the post of chairman, two for female vice chairman and 1 for vice chairman.
 Awami League candidate for the chairmanship of MA Motaleb CIP (Boat), BNP candidate Abdul Gopher Chowdhury (rice paddy), Independent candidate Abdul Monayem Munna Chowdhury (motorcycle). The female vice-chairman candidates are Tarannum Aisha (Butterfly) and Anjuman Ara Begum (Kalsi). Candidates for the post of Vice Chairman - Mohammad Shahjahan (lock), Salah Uddin Hasan Chowdhury (book), Mohammad Jasim Uddin (glasses), Bashir Uddin Ahmed (rice paddy), Ashifur Rahman Sikder (Mike) and Omar Farooq Liton (Nalak).
A  total of  2 lakh 83 thousand  voters  will cast their votes in the Upazila Parishad elections . Male voters  are 1 lakh 50 thousand 286 and female voters are  1 lakh 33 thousand 94. Voting will be held through  electronic voting machines (EVMs) in 4 booths in a total of 129 centers in 4 unions and 4 municipalities.
Talking to voters, it is reported that there will be 5 candidates for the post of chairman, but the main challenge will be between the boat and paddy crop candidates. MA Motaleb and Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury campaigned from beginning to end.
Upazila Election Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Mohammad Sheikh Farid said the concerned officers were  trained up  to vote in the EVMs. 'Mock' voting goes on at the polling stations on Saturday. There are all preparations for voting in a fair environment.
