DSCC Mayor Khokon flies to Singapore

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon left here for Singapore on Sunday night.
The DSCC Mayor went to Singapore to gain knowledge ahead of launching 'Communicable

Disease Control and Research Department' as part a five-year plan taken by the DSCC for controlling different communicable disease including Aedes mosquito, said DSCC public relations officer Uttam Kumer Roy.
Sayeed Khokon will visit different programmes and exchange views with officials of Singapore Health Ministry and National Environment Agency about controlling Aedes mosquitoes.
DSCC executive magistrate Mostafizur Rahman and Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Sharif Ahmed accompanied the mayor.
The Mayor is expected to return home in the end of this week.
Bangladesh has been struggling to contain a massive outbreak of dengue this year. Dhaka, its densely-populated capital city, has been at the centre of the outbreak.
Since January, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) received information about 197 dengue-related deaths. So far, it has reviewed 101 cases and confirmed 60 dengue deaths.
