Teacher gets life-term for raping  girl student
S M Saiful Islam (District and Session Judge), judge of Anti Women and Children Repression Tribunal-1, Bagerhat, in a judgment delivered on Sunday convicted a debauched school teacher named Tapas Rana (35) and sentenced him to suffer rigorous imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of Tk.1 lakh in default to suffer another imprisonment for one month more on the charge of committing rape with a school girl of Class-VIII forcibly. At the time of the judgment the convicted school teacher was present in the court. 3 other accused, were, however, were acquitted of the charge for want of sufficient evidences. They are Shekhar Rana, Dulal Rana and Ananda Rana. Tapas Rana is the son of one Sushil Rana of the village Par-Dumuria under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district and a teacher  of Dumuria High School under the same Upazila.     The prosecution story, in short, is that Tapan Rana was the house tutor of the girl student of the same village. On  ebruary 21, 2014 the parents of the girl were absent from the house. Taking the opportunity the debauched house tutor committed rape with the girl forcibly. But the girl did not disclose the matter to her parents. After a few months when the girl felt some physical problems she was medically examined and it was found that she had conceived pregnancy. After the leak out of the matter Tapas Rana married the girl on May 20 with the consent of his parents and she was ceremonially taken to his residence. But after some days Tapan and other members of his family tortured her physically, forcibly aborted her pregnancy and drove out her from their house.
7 -year old girl violated
A 7 years old girl was violated in the village Kartikdia under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district by a young debauched named Altaf Paik (35), son of one Alim Paik of the same village on Monday at noon. In this connection father of the girl registered a case with Bagerhat Model PS against the rapist.    It is stated that at the noon Altaf Paik allured the girl with sweetmeats to go her with him to his bed room where he committed rape with the girl forcibly after making louder the  olume of his TV set. Father of the girl told,  after the incident my daughter was seriously injured and blood was oozing out profusely from her wounds. She was admitted to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for her treatment.
Md. Mahatab Uddin, Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model PS told, being informed of the matter police visited the place of occurrence and they are trying to their best to arrest the rapist.

60 injured in rival  clash
At least 60 persons including 2 police men were injured of both the groups when a severe clash took place between the two rival groups of people at Dariala village Bazar under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday after noon over the expansion of supremacy in the localities. The injured persons were admitted Mollahat Upazila Health Complex and different clinics for their treatment. Many of them were released after taking first aid treatment.   Being informed of the matter a police squad led by Kazi Golam Kabir, Officer-in-charge of Mollahat PS rushed to the spot to control the clash. At that time Abu Taher, SI of police and police constable Pikul were injured when the brick bates, thrown by the people involved in the clash, hit them. It was disclosed by the Officer-in-charge. . The clash was brought under control by the police after a long effort of 2 hours. Being informed of the injuries of the police Md. Sayeed Momen Majumdar, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Mollahat and Soyruddin Ahmed, Assistant Police Super of Fakiorhat Circle rushed to the spot.   Police and the locals said  that a strong enmity and rivalry had been prevailing between Raju Shaikh of village Dariala and Sabuj Member of the adjacent Chotokachna village for long over the expansion of supremacy.
Following this enmity and rivalry hundred of both the groups were involved in the clash at Dariala Bazar on Saturday afternoon (at about 4 pm) and they began to throw brick bates and pieces of broken glass on each others. The clash continued for long 2 hours. As a result, about 60 persons including Sabuj Member and 2 police personnel were injured. A tense situation has been prevailing there. Police were deployed there to keep normal peace and order of the area.
