Thieves gang arrested, stolen goods recovered in Barishal

Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) operating drives arrested eight members of thieves' gang active in the city in recent days.
Huge stolen goods also recovered from their possession or information.
The arrested eight members of the thieves gang were Anwar Hossain,27 Md.Riad, 26, , Rony,20,of Vatikhna, Jitu Ahmed, 40, of Amanatganj, Tawhidul Islam,29, of Palashpur, Kabir Gazi, 26, of Asgar Ali Road, Alif,26, of Charmonai, and Shayamal Dey, 58, jeweler of Katpatty Road area of the city.
Shahabuddin Khan, BMP commissioner, holding a press briefing at officers' mess of BMP at Chandmari area of the city on Monday noon disclosed these facts in presence of the officials and arrestees.
BMP commissioner told recently burglary in day time or evening increased alarmingly.
Getting allegations from the victims' different branches and police stations of BMP started combined operation led by Akramul Hasan, additional deputy commissioner of BMP, succeeded to arrest eight members of that burglar-gang.
Police also recovered huge stolen items including 15 mobile phones, four laptops, one computer key board,  one DSLR camera, one handycam, 15 pieces of gold ornaments, one cordless speaker, three-tools of breaking and opening locks  and cash Tk. 1.04 lakhs , from their possession, the BMP commissioner added.
During interrogation the thief-gang members and victims revealed that the miscreants very expert in breaking or opening locks usually operates their drives during day time or evening taking chances of locked vacant houses or in disguise of electricians, technicians, cloth traders, the BMP commissioner told.
The arrestees would be sent to jail after producing before the court, he added.
