Man surrenders to police after killing wife

A man surrendered to police after slaughtering his wife following an altercation over extramarital affairs at Kolar Tikor village under Poba upazila of Rajshahi district early Friday.
The deceased Lovely  Begum, 28, was the wife of Shariful Islam Rentu.
Damkura Police Station's Officer in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam said that Rentu slaughtered her wife following an altercation over extramarital affairs and later surrendered at Damkura Police Station.
"Shariful surrendered us around 3:30am claiming that he murdered his wife Lovely Begum," the OC said.
According to his confessional statement, police recovered Lovely's throat-slit body from their house around 7:00am.
The couple has two children who were visiting their grandparents at the time of the incident.
Police are investigating the incident, he said.
The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue, the OC added.
