Staff Reporter : A portion of the roof of a abandoned two-storey building in the Sadarghat area of the city collapsed and a man’s dead body was recovered on Wednesday noon and it is believed deceased's son still enclosed there. Local sources said that the roof of an ancient building near Sumona Clinic caved in around 1:23pm. The deceased person is identified as local fruit trader Jahid Ali. People informed the Fire Service and Civil Defence about the tragedy, said Mohammad Ali, Executive of Fire Service and Civil Defence. It was an ancient and abandoned building and that is why it would be difficult to rescue properly, Mohammad Ali added. It is noted that the building that collapsed, was built lime and bricks but no rods.
