Tk 2.44 cr tax paid by 460 jewellers in Barishal

Total 464 jewellers paid Tk 2,44,44,200 taxes to legalised their undisclosed gold and other precious materials in the two day- long Gold Fair ended in the Barishal city on Tuesday afternoon.
The two-day long fair organised by National Board of Revenue for legalizing undisclosed gold and precious materials, held at Hotel Grand Park of the city was started on Monday morning.
Abul Kalam Azad, deputy commissioner taxes of Barishal regional office of taxes, first day on Monday 113 jewelers and jewelry owners legalized about four thousand tolas of gold, silver and other precious materials by paying Tk 59,68,250 as taxes.
On Tuesday, more 351 jewelers and jewelries of six districts of Barishal division by paying due taxes 1,84.75,950 legalized their undisclosed gold and precious materials.
Rates of taxes were Tk 1 thousand for per tola of gold or gold ornaments, Tk.50 for per tola silver and Tk.6 thousand for per carat of polished or unpolished diamond, the taxes official added.
Mentionable Serniabad Sadik Abdullah, Barishal City Corporation Mayor, flying pigeons and festoons inaugurated the fair as chief guest on Monday morning.
There were seven stalls including three for disclosing undisclosed amounts of gold and precious materials by the jewelers of six districts of the division, two booths of Janata and Sonali Banks for depositing taxes, issuing 12-digit TIN and help desk.
Khairul Islam, commissioner of taxes Barishal taxes region, presided over the inauguration programme.
Among others Saiful Islam, member( taxes and vat administration) of National Board of Revenue, Saidur Rahman Rintu, president Barishal Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Shangkar Karmakar, district president of Bangladesh Jewelers Association.
