Charukala  festival  ends at Barishal

A two-day long festival ended on Saturday night with procession, children painting competition, painting exhibition, discussion meeting calling to spread practices of fine arts to fight against foreign cultural invasion and communal fundamentalism. Charukala Barisal, the only fine arts teaching school of the city, organized the programme on to observe their 32nd founding anniversary. The programmes held at Barishal Ashwini Kumar Hall also included discussion meeting, cultural function and prize giving ceremony of painting competition. Ram Chandra Das, divisional commissioner, inaugurated the programmes on Friday morning. A H Towfique Ahmed , divisional chief UNICEF, Advocate S M Iqbal, cultural activist, Shah Sajeda, Dr. Naima Kabir,  right activists, Kajal Ghosh, president of Barishal Cultural Alliance Coordination Association, were special guests of the  inaugural session on Friday. A children painting competition and exhibitions of 150 paintings by Charukala activists, were also arranged on this occasion.
Seminar on expatriates' employment  held

Ministry of Expatriates, Welfare and  Overseas Employment and  Kishoreganj District Administration arranged a seminar on 'Expatriates Employment Skill and Awareness' held at local collect rate Conference Room on Saturday. Rejowan Ahamed Toufique MP and Additional Director General  Sheikh Rafiqul Islam were attended as chief and special guest while Acting D.C Dulal Chandra Sutredor in the chair. It was addressed among others by Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar) as special guest, Civil Surgeon Dr Habibur Rahman, ADM Zakir Hossion, ADC (Edn and  ICT) Habibur Rahman, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Pakundia Upazila Chairman Rafiqul Islam Renu, Austagram Upazila Chairman Shahidul Islam Jems, Katiadi Upazila Chairman Ainuddin Wahab and BMET Assistant Director Md. Ali Akbar. At least 45 persons including upazila chairmen, UNO's, AC Lands and journalists were also present.
Manipuri dance workshop ends in Sylhet

Concluding ceremony of the 10-day Manipuri Dance Workshop was held in Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium at Rikabibazar in Sylhet on Thursday night. Sylhet City Corporation mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury addressed the concluding ceremony as chief guest. Earlier on June 10, Academy for Manipuri Culture and Arts in association with the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh arranged the workshop at Manipuri Rajbari Temple in the city to train the dancers of the new generation on the technique of the Manipuri dance. Arif in his speech thanked the Indian High Commission for its initiative to enrich the cultural tradition of Bangladesh and India by exchanging the cultural expertise between the people of the two countries. Addressing Manipuri Dance as a cultural heritage of the sub-continent, Arif expressed his hope that the Indian High Commission would continue such effort in future.
