Staff Reporter :
A girl was allegedly raped by her so-called lover, who earlier killed her mother, in Manda upazila of Naogaon district on Monday night.
Police detained the suspected rapist, Samiul Islam alias Sagar, 22, in connection with the incident.
They rescued the girl and recovered her mother's body the same night. The girl is also undergoing treatment at Nagaon Sadar Hospital.
Samiul, who lives in Chakshamra village of the upazila, admitted that he raped the girl after killing her mother, according to police.
Quoting Samiul and the victim, Manda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mozaffar Hossain said the deceased woman's younger daughter is studying at Class XI at a local college. She had an affair with Samiul, but their relation has not been good of late.
The police official said, Samiul with a knife on Monday night went to the girl's house in a bid to kill her. He climbed to the roof of the house and entered the house from a door on the roof.
As he knocked the door, the girl opened it. They had an altercation, which woke her mother up. Samiul then stabbed the woman indiscriminately. As she lost her sense, Samiul slaughtered her. Later, he allegedly raped the girl threatening her with a knife, said the police officer.
Quoting the victim, OC Mozaffar Hossain said the victim had love relation with Samiul. Tension has recently started in the relation.
After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the relatives, the OC said.
The deceased's husband works as a night guard at a business firm in Natore town. He said he was on duty last night.
