A Correspondent : A woman died after coming in contact with an electric fence at Banshkahli upazila in Chattogram on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Dilowara Begum, 50, wife of Saleh Ahmed and resident of the Boilchari in the upazila, said sub-inspector (SI) Habibur Rahman of Banshkhali Police Station. He said Dilowara went to a vegetable patch near her home at around 7am and came in contact with an electric fence surrounding the plantation. To protect the vegetables from the nuisance of wild elephants, villagers had put up the electric fence. Contacted, Rezaul Karim, officer in-charge of the police station said putting up such fence is illegal and villagers had been warned to not set it up, but they did not listen. "Once we found out about the incident we went to the spot and removed the fence," he said.
