Budget session begins

UNB, Dhaka :
The first budget session of the 11th parliament got underway with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin in the chair at 5:00pm on Tuesday.
Before the House went into the session, the business advisory committee of parliament sat in a meeting to fix the duration and businesses of the session.
President Abdul Hamid on May 13 last summoned the third session (Budget, 2019) of the 11th parliament exercising the power bestowed upon him as per Article 72 (1) of the constitution.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will place the proposed national budget in the House on Thursday.
The size of the budget for the upcoming 2019-20 fiscal year will cross Tk 5 lakh crore (5 trillion).
On June 7, 2018, former Finance Minister AMA Muhith placed a Tk 464,573-crore budget for the outgoing 2018-19 fiscal.
