The news that AB de Villiers had said that he would make himself available for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019 has dominated much of the coverage of the South African team in recent days.
Ottis Gibson, the Proteas' coach, has been speaking about how this came about. Gibson was asked when he first heard that De Villiers was interested in coming into the World Cup squad.
"Good question. When did I first learn? AB called me. I think it was the morning that the squad was going to be announced. A lot of other things had gone on before that, of course.
