Rajshahi DC starts buying paddy from farmers

Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Rajshahi on Wednesday procured paddy directly from the farmers.
He procured paddy while visiting houses of the farmers.
DC SM Abdul Kader went to remote village at Nauhata of Paba upazila in Rajshahi at noon and purchased paddy from farmers at the price determined by the government this year, reports our local correspondent.
The government this year fixed procurement rate of the paddy per maund at Tk 1,040.
"I made a deal to sale 20 mount of paddy today in presence of the DC at the government's fixed rate. This will help to get a good price of my produce. I am happy to get fair paddy price," said Mojibur Rahman, a farmer of Paba upazila.   
DCs of several districts on Tuesday launched procurement of paddy directly from farmers visiting their houses.
