Mother, son killed by lightning at Matiranga

A woman and her son were killed after struck by lightning at Karim Masterpara of Matiranga upazila in the district on Sunday. Two other members of the family also were injured .
The deceased were identified as Abdul Khalek's wife Ayesha Khatun, 55, and son Abdul Momin, 22. The injured were identified as Abdul Khalek's daughter Aleya Begum, 30, and her grandson Md. Arafat Hossain, 8. The injured are undergoing treatment at Matiranga Upazila Health Complex (MUHC).
Quoting local people, Shamsuddin Bhuiyan, Officer-in-Charge of Matiranga Police Station, said that they were preparing to go to bed after Sehri. Just then, the tragic accident occurred ". The OC added that they were immediately taken to the MUHC.
Residential Medical Officer of the health complex, Dr. Md. Nahid Uddin said, "Ayesha Khatun and Abdul Momin died before admission to the health complex".
Besides, Razia Khatun, 55, a housewife was injured in the thunderbolt at Khedachhara under Belchhari union of Matiranga upazila. Sadly their domestic cow died after struck by the lightning.  
In aids of the victims' family, Khagrachhari district administration has donated Taka 40 thousand. Matiranga Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bibhishan Kanti Das paid the amount to Ayesha Khatun's husband Abdul Khalek on Sunday noon.
