In their third match of the ongoing Tri-Nation Series, Bangladesh are set to face West Indies today at 3:45pm in The Village, Dublin.
Before heading to the match, West Indies won twice against Ireland. On the other hand, Bangladesh won against West Indies, and their match against Ireland was washed out by persistent rain on Thursday.
After four matches of the event, West Indies are at the top of the points table with two wins, and Bangladesh are just behind them with one win.
Meanwhile, the second match against the West Indies is now a golden chance for the Tigers to take one step ahead to the final. They will face the hosts Ireland again on Wednesday which is the last match before the final of May 17.
In the last match against Ireland, West Indies beat Ireland by five wickets. They chased down the target of 328 with five wickets in hand.
Ireland set a big challenge for the Caribbean boys posting a mammoth total of 327 relying on the knocks of Andrew Balbirnie (135), Paul Stirling (77) and Kevin O Brien (63).
But West Indies chased the target depending on the maiden ODI ton of Sunil Ambris (148). Along with him, Roston Chase (46), Jonathan Carter (43) and Jason Holder (36) also contributed with the bat.
Bangladesh might take this match as the platform of testing the players who have been brought to Ireland just for this series.
Taskin Ahmed, who played the practice game prior to the series but yet to get a chance in the main event, might be included in the game in the place of Mustafizur Rahman. The right-arm pacer is now in the centre of contention to be included in the World Cup team as BCB president Nazmul Hassan hinted on Saturday.
In the previous game against West Indies, Bangladesh were imperious both with ball and bat. They restricted West Indies to 261 while fielding first, and then they chased the target of 262 with eight wickets in hand.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was the best bowler for Bangladesh in the first match as he took three wickets. While chasing, Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar added 144 runs in the first wicket stand and made the way of a win easier. Tamim posted 80 while Soumya scored 73 in the first match.
After the Tri-Nation Series, Bangladesh will head to England and Wales to play the ICC World Cup 2019. The Tigers will face South Africa on June 2 in their first match of the World Cup.
