DIU becomes BDF-ILO Debate Champion

Daffodil International University (DIU) became champion in BDF-ILO Debate Championship 2019 while Chattogram University became Runner Up in the championship.  As part of the Centenary Celebration of ILO (International Labor Organization), ILO Bangladesh has partnered with Bangladesh Debate Federation (BDF) organizing a nationwide debate competition. The grand finale and Prize Giving Ceremony of that competition was held on Monday at 71 Milonayoton of DIU.
Planning Ministe Md. Abdul Mannan, MP  distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest while Dr Mohammad Kaykobad, Prof of BUET was present at the program as the special guest. Presided over by Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer of DIU, the function was also addressed by TuomoPoutiainen, Country Director, ILO BD, Dr Farhana Helal Mehtab, Moderator, DIU DC and Associate Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Social Science of DIU.
Dr Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University and Abdullah Md. Shukrana President, Bangladesh Debate Federation were also present at the program.
Chattagram University Debating Club and Daffodil International University Debating Club (DIUDC) faced on the final round and Team DIUDC got the championship. The members of the champion team are: Al Mukit, Omar Faruk Shimanta and Amit Shaha and the members of the runner up team are Abu Faisal, Himadri Shekhor and Saif Mohiuddin. Omar Faruk shimanta won the best debater award.   While addressing as the chief guest Md. Abdul Mannan, MP said that we all have the right to freedom of speech and debate is the best medium of freedom of speech. Debate makes a student to being logical. That's why we have to increase debating culture in all university. He commented.
Md. Abdul Mannan also said that student have to be more logical. All problem have to be solved through logical way, not demonstration, he added.  It may be mentioned that the Inter University Debate Competition was held 8 divisional city (Barishal, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Chittagong, Sayedpur, Khulna, Rajshahi and Dhaka) of the country. Today Uhe grand finale was held at Daffodil International University.
