Six people have been detained by police for allegedly raping a garment worker after she was abducted with her husband in Tangail on Friday night.
Police detained the six people among eight who were accused in a case filed in connection with the rape, said Saidur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tangail Model Police Station to the journalists.
The two other accused are absconding, said the police official, adding that the case was filed by the victim's husband.
The 25-year old woman came to New Bus Terminal area of Tangail town with her husband last night. Just then they were picked up by some unidentified men around 9:30pm, police said.
Later, the abductors took the woman to a different spot on the outskirts of the town and raped her there, the OC said.
Her husband informed the police about the crime. Two of the accused were detained from a nearby area, police said.

She was taken to Tangail General Hospital for treatment at 5:00am, the OC said.
The other four accused were detained after police raided different places on the same night, Sanjit Kumar Roy, Superintendent of Police, Tangail, told the local journalists.
