Student dialogue against violent extremism

The North South University (NSU) facilitated a student dialogue against violent extremism to raise awareness amongst students recently organized by Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit, Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Chief of Counter Terrorism &Transnational Crime, Monirul Islam was the chief guest at the event. Pro Vice-Chancellor (Designate) Prof Dr GU Ahsan, Project Manager, PTIB, UNDP, Robert Stoelman and Deputy-Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Counter Terrorism Unit, Mohibul Islam Khan were present as the Special Guest. Vice-Chancellor, NSU, Prof Atiqul Islam presided over the Student Dialogue.
In the speech of Chief of Counter Terrorism &Transnational Crime, Monirul Islam said, Militant and extremism is not only a problem for Bangladesh, but also the world's crisis-related problems. Only the using of arms militancy cannot be eradicated.
It is possible to eliminate excessive militancy and extremism by increasing public awareness. Soon, by eliminating militants and extremism, Bangladesh will create an example in the world.
Robert Stoelman said, extremism is a terrible crime that divides people among people. By strengthening social bondings in human beings, we can get rid of this militancy.
In the Speech of Mohibul Islam Khan, Most of the events of militancy originated through social communication. Awareness among all of us can play a special role in solving this problem.
Vice-Chancellor, NSU, Prof Atiqul Islam said, there is no relation between country, nation or religion with extremism. This is a big problem globally. To solve the problem we all have to work with law and order security forces
Among others, Director of different offices, Administrative heads, Faculty members, other senior officials, students were also present on this occasion.
