Two AL activists killed in Narsingdi factional clash

Two people were killed and three others seriously injured in a clash between two factions of ruling Awami League (AL) in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Iqbal Hossain, 30, niece of Jafar Manik, Chairman of Mirzarchar Union, and Amanullah, 27, resident of the same upazila.
Local sources said, the Supporters of Mirzarchar UP Chairman and Faruk Islam, son of Union unit AL General Secretary Firoz Mia locked into clash over the upcoming UP election and to establish their supremacy in the area.
Mozaffar Hossian, Officer in-Charge (OC) of Raipura Police Station confirmed the matter to media that all the deceased and injured were the supporters of Mirzarchar UP Chairman Zafar Iqbal.
Additional police have been deployed to prevent further untoward incident, he added.
