Defamation case filed against BFF EC member Mahfuza Akter

A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued arrest warrant against Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Executive Committee member and Chairman of Women Football Committee Mahfuza Akter Kiron.
Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court issued the warrant and fixed April 2 for compliance of the warrant order.
Defence counsel Barrister Refatul Karim Lenin apprised the media people about the incident on Wednesday. He said that, on Tuesday, former joint-editor of
Bangladesh Cricket Board, Abu Hasan Chowdhury Prince filed the defamation case with the CMM Court of Dhaka against Kiron for defaming the Prime Minister. The complainant sought warrant against the accused. The court took into cognizance the case and issued warrant against him.
The case docket says, the accused made the alleged defamatory comments against the Prime Minister at a press conference of the central office of Bangladesh Football Federation on March 8.
The defamatory statement was telecast by different private television channels. On line newspapers aired the defamatory statement while many newspapers printed it.
The case was lodged as the complainant lost his honor and reputation of the value of Tk 50 crore for telecasting and printing the defamatory statement.
