IU holds inter-university handball contest

Inter-university Handball and Basketball Competition for male and female students began at Islamic University (IU), Kushtia on Saturday.
 IU vice chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari inaugurated the competition at the handball ground of the university.  Prof Dr M Selim Toha, treasurer of the university present here as special guest while pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman chaired the inaugural session.
 Among others, IU registrar in-charge SM Abdul Latif, student advisor Prof Dr Paresh Chandra Barman, IU syndicate member Prof Dr Mahbubar Rahman, Acting proctor Anisur Rahman, director of the physical education department Dr M Sohel Rana, were present here.
M Ashadur Rahman, assistant director of IU Physical Education department confirmed that  a total of nine male team and seven female team joined for handball game including IU, DU, JU, RU, CU, BAU SUST and others  Around 14 university team will contest at the Basketball competition, he added.
Mentioned, Islamic University beaten Bangladesh Agriculture University (BAU) by 44-18 goals while IU female team got joy narrow 6-1goals against Rajshahi University (RU).
