S. Asian Alliance for Poverty Eradication

A rally and cultural function organised by South Asian Alliance for Poverty Eradication, Bangladesh Chapter was held in front of the National Museum in the city's Shahbagh. In the programme held recently the speakers urged the governments of South Asia regions including Bangladesh to take necessary steps to reduce disparity between poor and rich and eradicate poverty. They also stressed to ensure social protection for all irrespective of poor, rich, caste, creed and colour. The speakers also emphasized for building responsible states and ensuring empowerment of women and small farmers. Executive Director of Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha Rokeya Kabir presided over the event. The function was addressed, among others, by noted economist MM Akash.
