EWU 18th Convocation held

Liberation War Minister AKM Mozammel Huq, MP shaking hands with a graduate student of East West University at the 18th Convocation of the University held EWU campus in the city on Wednesday.

Liberation War Minister AKM Mozammel Huq, MP advised the fresh graduates that moralities, responsibilities, skills, professionalism, and patriotism should be the guiding spirits of their future. The Minister attended the 18th Convocation of East West University (EWU), as the representative of the President of Bangladesh. The event took place at EWU campus in the city on Wednesday. A total of 2073 undergraduate and graduate students conferred degrees and eight of them were awarded gold medals for outstanding results.
The Convocation Speaker, Prof Dr Yasmeen Haque, Department of Physics, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) said in her speech that Bangladesh is now turning into a country with the capacity to meet all expectations. Universities here are not only distributing knowledge to students but also creating new sectors of knowledge. She referred too to recent research conducted in SUST in case of identifying cancer.
Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh was the Special Guest on the occasion. Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, and Prof Dr MM Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor, EWU also gave invaluable speeches. They said that Bangladesh would be able to reach its expected economic, social and cultural goals through the new generations' power of invention.
The members of the Board of Trustees, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, the Treasurer, Deans, chairpersons of the departments, teachers, staff, graduating students and their parents attended the convocation ceremony. The students expressed their delight upon receiving their certificates in due time and completing their academic venture.

Students, parents and faculties of the school participated in this event. The program began with the welcome speech by its Principal Anita Mondal. The Sports Day was inaugurated by Surah Fateha with releasing balloons bearing the school's name, pigeon releasing and torch run by a student. National anthem was sung. Chief guest Jacob Mondal hosted the national flag and the school flag. There was a wonderful Ribbon display and March past by the students. All the classes had races and the winners took the medal from the chief guest and principal. There were races for parents and teachers. After lunch, the raffle draw lottery excited the students. Principal announced the end of the program with thanks giving speech.
