Medicare service hampered at 9 UZ Health complexes in Khulna

Medicare service is  being hampered  seriously  at nine upazila health complexes of Khulna district due to shortage of manpower.
At least 627 posts are lying vacant against 1745 posts in nine upazila health complexes in the district, sources said.
Nine Upazila health Complexes of Khulna district are miserably falling to provide proper services to the patients due to acute shortage of doctors .   
In Dakop Upazila health complex, only one security guard has been performing his duties round the year. Only two cleaners (Sweepers) against nine are working here. In Digholia upazila health complex, ambulance is out of order since long and there is no ambulance driver here. Besides, seven other upazila health complexes also have been suffering from manpower shortage.
According to the reports of the statistics department of Khulna Civil Surgeon office, a total of 710 posts are still vacant in Civil Surgeon office and at nine upazila health complexes of Khulna district. Among the vacant posts 83 are in Khulna Civil Surgeon Office, Khulna General Hospital, TB Clinic, ID Hospital, Khalishpur Urban Clinic, Tootpara Urban Health Clinic and the rest 627 posts are vacant at nine upazila health complexes of the district.
Sources further said, apart from the crisis of 4th class staffs and physician shortage are also severe problems for which proper treatment is hampering badly.
27 posts of Junior Consultants of Cardiology, Junior Consultants of Eyes and Junior Consultants of Skin and Sex Departments are vacant for a long time. Besides, there are only two consultants against nine of ENT and Orthopedics Departments.
At two upazila health complexes, there are two Residential Medical Officers (RMO) while at seven other upazila health complexes there are no Residential Medical Officers.
Among the Physicians, most crisis are prevailing in the posts of assistant Surgeons, Medical officers and  assistant Medical officers.
Concerned sources said, Post crisis of Health assistants are also hampering Medicare service. 129 posts of healthe assistants are still vacant. 316 posts of 3rd class staffs and 161 posts of 4th class staffs are vacant still.
Sources again said, recently the government has decided to give employment of 4th class staffs at different government hospitals and health complexes which is undoubtedly a praiseworthy initiative of the government in respect of Medicare service.
Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Nizami, Health and Family Planning Officer of Dakop upazila Health Complex said, Crisis of cleaners (Sweepers) are more acute than that of physicians.
Amid the prevailing situation, Patients particularly women, children and elderly people   who come to the health complex seeking treatment for delivery cases and other complicated diseases including Hepatitis-B and cold related diseases are facing varieties of difficulties.
They are being compelled to receive treatment at higher cost at different clinics and hospitals either in the district or other places.
Dr. AFM Abdur Razzak, Civil Surgeon of Khulna said, the approval of employment of 211 staff have already given for Khulna and as such the crisis of 4th class staffs would be solved immediately by inviting tender.
Terming the newly elected Health Minister as "Efficient", the Civil Surgeon told that like other parts of the country, Medicare facilities for Khulna inhabitants would turn into an astonishing one.
