Chandpur  Correspondent :
Four  BNP defeated candidates among  29 defeated MP candidates  of various  political  parties  have lost their deposited money as they have not bagged  the requisite number of   casting votes (1/8 casting votes) as per rule of Election Commission.  In all the five constituencies  of the district,  except  one BNP candidate of Chandpur-4 ( Faridganj) Constituency   Harun -or- Rashid,  all other 4 BNP  defeated candidates   have lost their deposited money.
Contacted, this was confirmed by Additional District Magistrate  (ADM) Mohammad Abdullah Al- Mahmud Jaman. The same views were echoed by Assistant Returning Officer and UNO Matlab Uttar Upazila Shermin Akter and  Assistant Returning Officer and  Matlab Dakhshin Upazila UNO Md Shahidul Islam   and all other Assistant Returning officers.
A total of 35 candidates of AL, BNP, JP, Gono Forum, Independent, BSD, JSD, Jaker Party, NAP, Islamic Oikya Front, Islami Front, Islami Andolon Bangladesh ( Char Monai Pir)  and a few other  parties contested in five seats in the just- concluded 11th National poll on 30 December.
Of them ,  five candidates of the ruling party have emerged winners  polling highest  gap of votes  defeating their rival BNP candidates with a very big margin of votes in all five seats in the district. Consequently,   as many as  four BNP candidates among   29  opposition   parties' candidates  have lost their deposited money for want of getting minimum number of casting votes(1/8 casting votes) of the winners.
