The closing ceremony of a three-day National Debate Championship organized by Southeast University Debate Club (SEUDC) held on Saturday at SEU Tejgaon Campus in the city.
Prof Dr ANM Meshquat Uddin, Vice Chancellor of SEU chaired the ceremony while Prof Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud, Former Adviser to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh and Former Professor, Dept of Economics, University of Dhaka was the chief guest.
Nasir Ahmed, eminent Poet and Director of News, BTV, Syed Ishtiaque Reza, Editor-in-Chief, GTV attended the program as special guests. Among others, M Kamaluddin Chowdhury, Member of BOT, SEUT, Prof Dr AFM Mafizul Islam, Adviser, BOT and Head of BOT Office, SEUT, Maj Gen Kazi Fakruddin Ahmed (Retd), Registrar, Prof Dr Abul Lais MS Haque, Dean, School of Science and Engineering, chairmen, faculty members and students also attended the program.
56 teams from different colleges and universities across the country participated in the competition where Rajuk Uttara Model College and BAF Shaheen College, Dhaka won the champion and runner up trophy in the college level and Rajshahi University Moot Court Society and Bangladesh University of Textiles Debate Club won the Champion and Runner up Trophy in the university level respectively.
Best speaker from both levels and Debater of the Tournament also awarded in the program. Renowned band group 'Shironamhin' and other singers performed at the end of the program.
