"You must be free and fair as you are judges. You'll have to deliver your courage and presence of mind, said the CEC addressing the magistrates at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital's Agargaon.
The CEC asked the magistrates to perform their duties as per the Constitution and law.
The Election Commission (EC) is accountable to the nation, Constitution, political parties and people for holding a fair election, he said.
Some 600 magistrates will perform duty from December 29 to January 1 to ensure a fair election atmosphere, he further said. Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder said, it is their aim to make sure that no candidate goes to the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban without confirming their win through votes.
