'Employment generation programme taken for women in haor region'

Women and Children Affairs Minister Meher Afroz Chumki said the government has taken a programme to generate employment opportunities for underprivileged women in haor region.
"We have taken the programme for women empowerment in haor region to ensure their dignified life in the society," she said this on Wednesday while speaking at the inaugural function of the project titled "Income and employment Programme for women in haor areas" at the Directorate of Women Affairs, an official press release said.Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Nasima Begum, Director of the Directorate of Women Affairs and senior officials of the ministry, among others, addressed the function with Director General of Directorate of Women Affairs Kazi Rawshan Aktar in the chair.
Chumki said the government has taken income and employment generation programme for women in haor areas to strengthen social-safety for poor and vulnerable people of the society. She said the programme aims to make underprivileged women self-reliant economically.
