Since the last 1973,  Awami League has not won in this seat . During this time, the BNP won five times, the Jatiya Party three times and Jamaat-e-Islami once time.

The solid foundation of the Awami League led by Jafar Alam under the leadership of Chakaria and Pekuara, known as the BNP's fortress, has stabilized in the hope of good days ahead.

So, hoping that Zafar will nominate the party in the next parliamentary election, he hopes he will nominate the party in next parliamentary elections. Zafar Alam said, I am working on the issue of Awami League politics and dedicated to the party. He hoped that the party will nominate him for the eleventh parliamentary elections. He said, I believe the party's president will nominate me this time.
BNP's local activists believe that this seat will be restored again by capitalizing on the popularity of BNP's central leader and former state minister Salahuddin Ahmad, has come back from  Shillong, India after release from the jai. Hasina said that my husband Salahuddin Ahmed is still in the heart of the people of Chakaria-Pekua. She is quite popular. He expects that he will be the candidate of the eleventh parliamentary elections. Cox's Bazar district BNP president Shahjahan Chowdhury said, the party's central leader Salahuddin Ahmed's favorite person will get the party's nomination.
