JU becomes champion in 3rd nat'l girls programming contest

ICT Minister Mustafa Jobbar hands over the trophy of '3rdNational Girls Programming Contest-2018' to the members of winning Daffodil International School in a formal ceremony at Daffodil International University on Monday.

'JU-Jabian' of Jahangirnagar University (JU) became Champion in '3rd National Girls Programming Contest-2018' held on Monday at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University (DIU). DIU in association with Ministry of Post Telecommunication and IT and supported by Bangladesh Computer Council organized the contest.
ICT Minister Mustafa Jobbar and State Minister of ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak were present as the chief guest and special guest respectively, and distributed prizes among the winners. Presided over by Dr Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU, the function was also addressed by Begum Zuena Aziz, Secretary, ICT Division of Ministry of Post Telecommunication and IT, Parthoprotin Deb, Executive Director, Engr Md. Enamul Kabir, Director, Bangladesh Computer Council, Hosne Ara Begum, ndc, Managing Director (Secretary), Bangladesh High-Tech Park Authority and Prof Dr SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor and Prof Dr Syed Akther Hossen, Head, Department of CSE of DIU.  
A total number of 102 team form School, College and University all around Bangladesh participated in this daylong contest.
The contest held in two categories. Catagort-1 participated by only Primary level students and Category-2 participated by High school, College and University level students. Before this final round, in regional contest 320 team participated in online competition and finally 102 team qualified for today's national contest.
'JU-Jabian' team comprising with Sabera Mahmud Proma, Mir Noushin, Richita Khondoker became champion while 'Hooked On' team of Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology comprising with Jannatul Ferdous, Hure Jannat Rafci and Safia Pervin became 1st runner up and 'Fighters' team of Chittagong University comprising with Asmaul Husna Choudhury, Nazifa Islam Progga and Nishat Sultana Choudhury became 2nd runner up.
In the primary level, Daffodil International School and Khilgaon National Ideal Schol win the prizes in the contest.
ICT Minister said, if you fight against modern world, you have to learn ICT knowledge. He gave emphasis on programming for enhancing ICT practice among young generation, especially girls. He also said that Bangladesh already has ahead in ICT sector. In future Bangladesh will be the leader in digital world. He expressed that ICT is the best profession for girl because this profession can be done from anywhere. In the meantime he gave emphasis on practicing ICT from very beginning of the life i.e Primary level, he added.
