SCBA for President’s role for fair polls

The leaders of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) will meet soon with the President Md Abdul Hamid to request him to play a special role for a free and fair parliamentary election.
President of the SCBA Advocate Zainul Abedin said this at a press briefing held on the Supreme Court premises on Monday.
SCBA also decided to convene a grand rally of lawyers from across the country for establishing people's right to vote and fair election, the SCBA  President said. But, he did not say anything when the rally will be held.
 "In the past, the SCBA always played an important role to fall of the dictatorship by the movement of protecting the independence of the Judiciary, human rights and democracy. And now the SCBA has decided to play the same role as the country is passing through a crisis situation," he said.
The Bar leaders took these decisions in a meeting of the Executive Committee held on October 14, last.
SCBA Secretary Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan and other leaders were present at the briefing yesterday.
