Babar gets death, Tarique jailed for life in 2004 grenade attack

bdnews24.com: Former state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar is among 19 peoplesentenced to death for their roles in 2004 grenade attacks that killed 24people and injured another 500.

Tarique Rahman, son of the then prime minister Khaleda Zia, has been jailedfor life along with 18 others.

The case involves the brazen attack that targeted Sheikh Hasina, who was theopposition leader at the time and now the prime minister of Bangladesh. Hasinasurvived with a partial hearing loss.

A series of grenades exploded as Hasina was stepping off a truck, which wasused as a dais for the rally on Bangabandhu Avenue. More to follow ...
